Chris has an engineering and teaching background. They are keen sailors of the New Zealand coast and capture enough information during their extensive trips, in the form of sketches and photos, etc,. for a years work. "Their ideas are combined into the colour and light which is displayed by their Dichroic (Two Colours) Glass pieces. Every handcrafted piece is unique although repeat themes are possible. The pendants are set in Sterling Silver and include a 16"" snake chain. " "An 18"" chain can be supplied if preferred." The Sterling Silver backplates to the pendants are themselves unique and creative and can be worn to the front if this is desired. As a customer you have the option of selecting the backplate design you prefer. A range of design themes are available to choose from. Note that dichroic glass is specially coated glass used as decorative additions on the outside of blown glass pieces ( i.e. stoppered bottles, goblets, vases or bowls) or as inclusions in paperweights. It is produced by a costly and complex process. The selected glass is subjected to a meticulous optical cleaning process and then placed in a heated vacuum chamber. Inside the chamber the surface of the glass is bombarded by an electron beam gun, which coats the glass with various metallic oxides and rare metals to produce a variety of colour effects and patterns.
