The artists listed on this page are not known to us. Some of these pieces are made in New Zealand and some are made overseas, where labour is less expensive. They are all made to New Zealand Maori traditional designs.
Bone was an important material for the Maori. It was hard, durable and simple to work. It was used for fish hooks, chisels, spear points and many other useful tools. Bone sources were Moa (a large flightless bird long extinct), seal and human. Maori believe that once you wear a piece of bone next to your skin, some of you passes into the pendant and the pendant becomes one with you.
