Sally Govorko is one of Australasia's outstanding Fabric Artists. London born in 1948, the passion of her childhood was the training and involvement in classical ballet. Dance still influences her life and work, strong line and form, harmony, movement, fluidity and control, all elements encompassed in current work.
Sally's background in clothing design lead into the work of silk, resulting in distinctive and impeccable work, a deep rich palette producing confident and diverse design.
The silk is stretched onto frames, fibre reactive dyes are applied to the areas defined by the Gutta
(outline). The work is then rested for a few hours prior to steaming which ensures depth of colour and "fixing".
Sally's work has been sold and shown throughout NZ as well as in Australia, Japan and the USA, including S.O.F.A.
in Chicago. Clients have included corporations, government agencies and many individuals world wide during the past 15 years
