Joy Murray

Wonderful childhood years were spent living near Takapuna Beach, Auckland and enjoying long holidays on my grandparent's farm near Milton, Otago before moving to Invercargill (via Palmerston North and Timaru) in my mid teens. These different locations, my love of overseas travel and awareness of nature with its vibrant colours, unique textures and varied shapes greatly influence my art work. Artistic studies over the years have encompassed dress design and construction, screen printing, photography and watercolour painting under the talented tutoring of Kimberly Robinson of California.

My work is generally classified as contemporary realism with still life, abstract and landscape pieces mostly in clear bright colours They are "happy" paintings and were popular in West Los Angeles (where I lived for many years) and now also in NZ since my return.
