These hand thrown bowls incorporate portraits and words as part of the surface decoration. Painting a picture with words, the words are secondary to the visual effect created by their placement on the form, thus using the words as objects in themselves. Additionally, these pieces pay a tribute to an icon of the modern world.
The words and ideas may have some meaning to the viewer, as they have to Jengis. Words are used decoratively on a strong simple form in a seemingly random and disjointed fashion, but in reading the surface one becomes aware that all lines of thought lead back to the original source through a lattice of ideas. Like circular talking, where the conversation starts with a single idea which may quickly change into something else, yet later after many other ideas the original path may be stumbled back upon, thus completing the circle. Hopefully in such a way this new work takes on a life of its own.
Each of these pieces is made to order. Each one will be different. The words used and the portrait will differ with each bowl, making the piece you receive totally unique.
