Colin Bennett Greenstone Pendants
Colin says of himself:
I came to my craft late in life, recycling the bones of my dead cows, no momentous epiphany just a gradual satisfaction in making stuff. After a rather bloody visit to the dentist (I got nauseous every time I roared into a piece of bone), and a rather fortuitous commission for a piece of jade, I found that jade was it and sure beat milking cows. I am largely self taught but acknowledge the invaluable contribution of mentor Paul Mason. I'm no great shakes as a designer. I look upon myself as an artisan, not hacking too much out of the jade and letting it speak for itself. I'm also not a subscriber to the touchy feely school of carvers, endowing my work with meaning and ethereal properties, preferring to create vessels for clients to fill themselves, whether it means feeling like a million dollars wearing a piece to a cocktail party or being in touch with the earth and sky and bonding with the ancestors.

The ever increasing problem of sourcing gem quality jade means that there inevitably will be some variation in jade colour compared to the sample pictures.

Colin's designs can be made in a range of sizes and jades. He is also happy to quote for commissions for customer's own designs.
