Wayne Ross Swamp Kauri

Wayne Ross is an outback Australian who settled in Zealand in 1982. His specialty is unique one-off, handmade sculpture and bowls made from Ancient New Zealand Swamp Kauri which has an estimated age of 2000 to 5000 years. He particularly likes to use the stump which has a very beautiful marble like grain that varies between pale brown, almost green and burnt black.
Swamp Kauri, which is found only in the top half of New Zealand, is the oldest workable wood in the world. It's awesome natural character is amazingly exploited by Wayne into works of art which entice the viewer to touch and stroke and smell them.

People who have purchased Wayne's work value the naturalness and innate spirituality of the pieces. Their feedback to Wayne is that it gives them a feeling of contentment and serenity. Not surprisingly, they note these same qualities in the artist.

Wayne's large sculptures are made on commission and may differ from the images displayed. Please contact us for a quote if you are interested in any of these pieces.
